We share a lot about the food side of boob to food… but get so many questions about how to let go of the boob (or bottle) side! so in today’s episode we ask the beautiful Amberley Harris all about weaning after 12 months of age.

Amberley Harris is a Melbourne based Registered and Endorsed Midwife in private practice specialising in breastfeeding support. Amberley has over 13 years experience working as a Midwife in both the public and private hospital setting and is a proud co-producer of two small humans.

She also shares extensively about the world of motherhood & maternal wellness through her website and instagram, as well as offering digital resources, courses and an amazing nipple butter too! Amberley’s goal is to drive significant and impactful change to global breastfeeding statistics (she’s even making a Breastfeeding Documentary!) and we are so lucky to share her wisdom with you.

In this podcast we discuss

  • When is the right time to wean? Are there any signs a baby might show to signify they are ready to wean?

  • Are there any benefits to continuing breastfeeding or formula feeding after 12 months?

  • Is it necessary to replace the milk feeds for something else like cow’s milk or toddler formula?

  • How do we actually wean and some practical tips

  • How much time should we allow to wean and which feeds should be weaned first

  • Avoiding mastitis and blocked ducts when weaning

  • and so much more!

You can connect with Amberley on Instagram @maternalinstinctsbyamberley or her website www.maternal-instincts.com.au

I really loved this podcast! You guys are like the best cheerleaders for all the mums! I started slow weaning, but then teething set us back, with 3 feeds a day and 2,3 at nightime.. We will try again later 😆☀️ I was frustrated.. So tired but then you guys got me back up! Big thanks!

I really loved this! We aren’t at the stage of weaning yet but will be in the next few months. My girls almost 2 and I’m so stoked we made it this far. I tested the bandaids but my girl ripped them off and laughed 😅
