About the recipe
These bone brothsicles are a soothing, nutrient-rich snack for babies & toddlers, perfect for teething relief or adding extra nourishment
You probably know by now how much I love bone broth — and for good reason. It’s packed with collagen, minerals, and amino acids that support gut health, immunity, skin, and joints. But I hear you… it’s not always easy to serve it to babies, especially when you’re following a Baby-Led Weaning approach or have a toddler who’s not keen on soup.
That’s where these bone brothsicles come in. A nourishing frozen snack that feels like a treat — but is secretly full of goodness. Perfect for sore gums, hot days, or simply a fun and creative way to offer broth to little ones.
For babies, I love popping the mix into a Haakaa silicone feeder (discount code BTF10) as a safe teether. For toddlers, they go straight into ice block moulds and disappear fast!
Age Suitability
Suitable from when baby is having at least one solid meal a day.
You can also offer just frozen bone broth in a silicone teether from the very start of solids — soothing, safe, and full of nutrients.
Serving Suggestions
For babies: use the Haakaa silicone feeder (code BTF10) or pop into large moulds and cut into safe sizes once slightly softened
For toddlers: serve in popsicle moulds
Use as a teething-friendly snack on warm days, or after active play
Storage
Store in the freezer for up to 3 months
Serve straight from the freezer (or allow to soften slightly before offering to younger babies)
A Quick Note on Bone Broth
If you don’t have time to make your own bone broth (we get it!), you can buy beautiful, high-quality options from Part & Parcel — we love their range (use code BOOBTOFOOD on your first order over $99).
This recipe works best with unsalted plain bone broth if you are making your own so the salt and herbs aren’t overpowering the sweetness. I personally think chicken bone broth works best with these as its milder in flavour.
Ingredients
1 cup bone broth
1 cup berries or fruit of choice
½ cup coconut cream or coconut yoghurt (or Greek yoghurt or dairy milk cream if dairy is tolerated)
Honey to taste (omit for babies under 12 months)
Method
Blend all ingredients until smooth.
Pour into moulds of choice — silicone teether moulds for younger babies, or ice block moulds for toddlers and older kids.
Freeze until solid, then serve straight from the freezer.
Ingredient Swaps
Swap berries for mango, banana or stone fruit
Use plain coconut yoghurt or a thick, unsweetened Greek yoghurt for added creaminess
Use a mix of fruit and steamed veggies like carrot or pumpkin for extra variety
