A hearty meal delicious for the whole family to enjoy – plus its quick and easy for a mid week dinner! Suitable once your baby is tolerating dairy.
Beef Stroganoff
Ingredients
- 800 grams rump steak cut into thin strips
- 3/4 tsp bicarb soda
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- few cracks of pepper
- 1 large brown onion
- 6 garlic cloves
- 400 grams mushrooms
- 3 TBSP spelt flour OR GF flour of choice
- 2 cups beef bone broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 TBSP butter
- 2 TBSP dijon mustard
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 TBSP olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Marinate the thinly sliced meat for 15-20 minutes in the bi carb soda, olive oil, salt and pepper
- In a large pan or pot add in one tablespoon of olive oil and sear off the meat in batches, making sure not to crowd the pot. Once cooked, remove the meat from the pot and set aside
- Next add in another tablespoon of olive oil and fry the sliced onions and garlic. Cook for roughly five minutes until softened, then add your mushrooms and cook for a further three minutes
- Add the spelt flour and cook for another two minutes
- Pour in the broth and the cooked meat, and once it thickens, add in mustard and sour cream stirring gently
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve with pasta, rice or potatoes
