So, I have paired with Katie from Amaseballs the ‘bliss ball expert’ to bring you this delicious nut free, gluten free, dairy free bliss ball that is perfect for school lunchboxes. They are also an amazing, nutritious postpartum or pregnancy snack to have on hand!

This ball could be given to a child from 12 months of age. The reason being, is I prefer to keep food savoury for as long as possible. and these are quite sweet from all the dates!

DF | EF | NF

  • Refrigerator
  • Food processor
  • Spoons
  • Wooden spoon
  • Wooden spoon
  • 10 pitted medjool dates
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup buckwheat groats/kernals
  • 1 Sesame seeds (to roll in)
  1. In a processor blend oats, coconut, cinnamon, and salt until a meal consistency forms.

  2.  Add in dates and tahini and blend on med-high until mixture is well combined.

  3.  Pour in buckwheat and blend on low so they stay whole (for crunch). If offering to a younger baby, blend until completely smooth.

  4. Roll into even sized balls, will make approximately 15 bliss balls.

  5. Optional – roll the balls in sesame seeds which will make them less sticky and provide an extra calcium hit!

AGE APPROPRIATE: 12 months +

Will keep in the fridge for 7 days (if they aren’t devoured before hand!) or you can freeze for up to 1 month.

I presume that the activated buckwheat makes them more nutritional/easier to digest. Is that right? Can I use regular buckwheat?
Thanks

Quinoa

Delicious, gluten free, high protein and technically a seed not a grain, its a pseudograin! The perfect introductory ‘grain’ for your babies that is power packed with nutrients and a delicious earthy flavour. It is considered a 'complete' protein, containing all 9 essential amino acids, so its a great addition for a plant-based diet. I often make a big batch at the beginning of each week, as it’s so easy to incorporate into lunches and dinners, and it freezes well too.

Veggie-Bomb ‘Pasta’ Sauce

I’ve been promising to type this recipe up for way too long, and to be honest I have been putting it off because even though I have been making this recipe for years, it changes every time I make it! But, I have come to realise that thats the beauty of this recipe, it can be changed and ingredients substituted and it still seems to taste amazing no matter the way you make it!So, why does it change each time? Well, the beauty of this recipe is that it is the epitome of #nowaste - this recipe has been designed to use all of those old, sad, forgotten about vegetables wilting in the bottom of your fridge at the end of the week that would most likely otherwise go to waste! And if you are anything like me, those vegetables vary every week.
