Chunky ‘puree’ like this can have a higher aspiration risk as baby will ‘slurp’ back the food on the spoon and the firmer foods like chickpeas and vegetables can then be inhaled into the airway – so chunky foods like this are best to introduce once they have mastered chewing with finger foods so they know how to manipulate the food in their mouth!
