05 – Prenatal nutrition with our beautiful dietician Renee Jennings

In today’s episode we pick the brain of our wonderful dietician renee jennings, on all things prenatal nutrition.

Renee is a clinical dietitian and nutritionist specialising in pregnancy, postpartum and childhood nutrition. She has a strong research focus (and tendencies to nerd out with Kate) and many years of experience – first in a paediatric feeding clinic, and now in private practice specialising in pregnancy nutrition and gestational diabetes.

Renee is also the author of a wonderful book ‘Nurture the Seed’ – a nutrition and recipe book that guides women through their pregnancy and beyond. Most importantly, she is a mother of two beautiful children, Norah and Freddie and an all round wonderful human.

In this podcast we chat to Renee about:

  • Key nutrients to focus on in pregnancy and foods that consume them

  • Her passion for wholefoods and how her approach differs to some mainstream dietetic recommendations

  • Strategies for how and what to eat when you’re feeling nauseous (and just want hot chips and sourdough!)

  • Some myths and misconceptions around liver and how it can be safely consumed during pregnancy

  • Thoughts on supplements in pregnancy including folic acid

  • and so much more!

You can connect with Renee on Instagram as well as seeing her face on the Boob to Food Instagram from time to time. And if you want to get your hands on a copy her incredible book (which we highly recommend you do!) you can purchase it HERE.
