These Banana Kefir Gummies are a deliciously simple, gut-friendly snack that’s perfect for babies and toddlers. Made with just a few nourishing ingredients—kefir, banana, and gelatin—they’re rich in probiotics to support healthy digestion and immune balance. The kefir provides natural beneficial bacteria, the banana adds gentle sweetness and creaminess, and the gelatin helps to strengthen the gut lining while giving that fun, wobbly texture kids love.

These gummies are soft, easy to hold, and melt gently in the mouth—making them an ideal snack for little ones still mastering their chew. They’re also a great way to include fermented foods early on, helping to develop a diverse gut microbiome from the start.

Age Appropriate:

From around 8–10 months, once dairy is tolerated (or use coconut kefir for a dairy-free option). Avoid honey if using for babies under 12 months.

Storage:

Freezer: Not recommended – banana discolours and texture changes when frozen.
Fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Ingredients

1 cup milk kefir(or use coconut kefir for dairy-free)
1 large ripe spotty banana
1 tsp honey or maple syrup(omit under 12 months)
2.5 tbsp grass-fed gelatin
½ cup water

Method

Bloom the gelatin: In a small bowl, mix the gelatin into the water. Stir well and let it sit for a few minutes until it thickens.
Blend the base: In a blender, combine the kefir, banana and sweetener (if using). Blend until smooth.
Dissolve the gelatin: Once bloomed, gently heat the gelatin mixture in a small saucepan over low heat until fully dissolved—don’t let it boil.
Mix: Pour the dissolved gelatin into the blender with the kefir and banana. Blend again until fully incorporated.
Set: Pour the mixture into silicone gummy moulds or a lined tray. Transfer to the fridge and chill for at least 2 hours until set.
Enjoy: Pop out and serve. Store extras in the fridge.

Ingredient Swaps:

  • Dairy-free: Use coconut kefir instead of milk kefir.
  • Sweetener-free: Leave out honey/maple syrup if your banana is super ripe.
  • No blender? Mash banana very well and whisk thoroughly with kefir.
