Liver Bombs
Iron rich
About the recipe
A simple little freezer hack for making it easier to include nutrient-dense liver in your family’s meals. These “liver bombs” are simply blended raw liver, frozen into small portions and ready to pop into meals as you cook.
We usually use chicken liver as it has a milder flavour, but you can use any liver you like.
How to use them
Add a liver bomb to foods like:
-
Bolognese or other mince-based sauces
-
Pasta sauces
-
Shepherd’s pie
-
Curries
-
Slow-cooked meals
-
Chilli
-
Soups and stews
Storage: Keep frozen for up to 3 months.
A note for babies: Liver is incredibly nutrient-dense and a wonderful source of iron, vitamin B12, choline and vitamin A. Because it is particularly high in preformed vitamin A, it doesn’t need to be offered every day. Think of liver as a nutrient-dense addition to your baby’s varied diet rather than something we need to add into every meal.
