Mackerel Pate
Calcium rich, Egg free, Gluten Free, Nut free, Protein rich, Soy free
About the recipe
This mackerel pâté is a simple, nutrient-dense spread that’s perfect for introducing oily fish in a baby-friendly way. It’s rich in healthy fats, calcium, and protein—and the flavour is beautifully balanced with creamy cottage cheese, fresh herbs, and a pop of lemon.
You can keep the tiny fish bones in (just like you would with tinned sardines) as they’re soft and completely edible—an easy way to boost calcium intake.
Suggested age range:
Suitable from around 8 months+, once your baby is tolerating fish and dairy (both allergens).
Serving suggestions:
Use as a toast topper, spread on soft crackers, or serve as a dip for veggie sticks.
For spoon-fed babies, serve as is or mix through some mashed sweet potato.
Perfect for lunchboxes, snack plates or quick protein boosts.
Storage tips:
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Not suitable for freezing due to texture changes.
